What do you think about this ban? Let us know below.
Determination is key! Couple with public interest at heart with immediate relief measure as stated above, victory is certain!
ReplyDeleteThe ferry services should consider ojo and badagry axis the population there is also massive to relieve those who have been used to bike on that route
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with you
DeleteIt would have been better to have engaged the stakeholders and sensitize the passengers of alternatives to the banned means of transportation and create a transition period to soften the effect for both the riders who may have just entered into a hired purchase deal and the passengers who have adopted them due to the stress of driving.
ReplyDeleteOne of the effect is worsened traffic experienced this morning because those who left their car at home on Friday and ended up trekking back didnt want to make the same mistake.
You could have work on road first before thinking about banning of bike, Lagos Road is very bad now, I don't think Mr governor has good advisers
ReplyDeleteThe okada should be operating until all facilities are in place to accommodate Lagosian, come to think of it WAEC and Jamb is around the corner is going to be a big problem for candidates to get to their exam centers in time.
ReplyDeleteSincerely , they are suffering we the logosians , instead of making life easier by setting rules and regulations to this people .
ReplyDeleteYou have taking ,their pride away from them ,to work hard and put foods on the table. Get prepared when the people start Arm Robbery and rituals just be like the rich men. It's best you create roads like the U.S create space for bycicles. This laws are becoming un breable.
Have patient for now, everything will be fine
ReplyDeleteIn some time we will get used to it, I know it has affect the whole Lagosians but, all we need is to follow the government decision because it has already late for now .
ReplyDeleteI am Opay Rider too, right now I am at home without doing anything.
Government should consider dis render s, some of them use this mean to provide for thy families pls Mr governor
ReplyDeleteDid mr governor consider d pregnant ones before acting on this? I saw a pregnant lady who was bleeding because the stress of the trekking was too much for her. Bad
ReplyDeleteOga, it's even a more risky thing for a pregnant woman to be on an Okada......
DeleteIts not for the pregnant woman to use Bike, but buses will be available for her to use comfortably and not to continue standing and dragging bus with those stronger than she is.
DeleteLet's get it Right is for her to use bike but keke please, and yet no keke too.
DeleteThis government should know that. More than 300 persons are out of job because of the ban. Let's do what is right for our society and the people we represent as leaders. And not trying to be like other countries. Thank you
ReplyDeleteNigerians can complain we complain about everything and that is why we are not moving forward
ReplyDeleteHere ur self out
DeleteHe who complain have reasons to do that and you who refused to complain can hold your peace. Our leaders talks about american or London, but cities were not build in three months for God sake.
DeleteCan you ever satisfy people? No. The positives outweigh the negatives. The inconveniences are for a short while, we will all be better for it.

ReplyDeleteRegulate, not ban!!! Government, through the Ministry of Transport, should take proactive steps in ensuring the organised bike hailing companies are well regulated and supervised. They should carry out periodic inspection of their facilities, trainings and recruitment system. Rider's permit are issues by Government. Proper testing and practical examination must be carried out on the riders by government before issuance of permits to them. Companies should ensure the use of breathlysers on the riders in various locations as well as health accessment centres to test for drugs periodically. This is workable. The companies can also work with the security agents as spys to give information when they carry suspicious individuals. Some of these riders are graduates with families and with legitimate dreams. They should now not be restricted from making their own good economy (with this ban) since the State has fail to provide them that. Please let's be real and considerate. These individuals from certain part of the country or foreigners will still remain ban or no ban. They are normadic in nature and ready to be shinning shoes and become gatemen or have small corner shops.
Better to be proactive rather than reactive. Nice initiative but not timely. I'm not affected because I don't bike but I feel for the poor masses who have been stranded. You say its risky right, well you just increased the risk to life through robbery, hunger, loss of opportunities, loss of jobs etc. Please have a rethink and save our people who are already pressed by the poor economy.
ReplyDeleteGod bless u good talk
DeleteLagos state is trying by reducing unemployment in the country nonsense
ReplyDeleteThe decision of the Lagos State government to ban "okada" in Lagos State is highly commendable. The menace of armed robbery and all forms of criminalities in almost every part of the state is in the alarming rate. I do not think some routs should be exempted. Let the ban cut across every nooks and crannies of the state. If at all we will need bike on the streets, may be the licensed companies like Opay, Gokada and the likes could be considered. However, residents of Lagos State, I in particular have lost confidence in the government. This is because, this is not the first time Lagos State will ban okada. I hope the government will not bring them back when election is approaching ?
ReplyDeleteBig man, how many people have you rendered help to in your community? Just pack yourself for one corner please.
DeleteThe government should reconsider this, work on road first, provide transport facilities before the ban.
ReplyDeleteAs for the byk, am ok with it. But keke should be out of the restriction, And should operate as a registered body with well trained n cautioned rider.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless Lagos State.
I agree with you....Lagos State Government should work on that pls...
DeleteKeke should be left out of this... Bus now charge us double because we don't have any other Option
I can understand the banning of the bikes but Keke should be out of the ban. Those with Keke-Napep should be free to operate. They seem to be more organized, better coordinated and safer. They can be better regulated and managed. The advisers of Mr Governor should have a rethink..... God bless Lagos and God bless Nigeia.
ReplyDeleteThis ban is a distraction sanwo-olu want, so lagosians won't question is obligations in the office. This would be the dealing for a whole term, while Lagos road would be left to more damage. Until then we'll all realise that this guy is MASISE-OLU. Meaning don't work-olu
ReplyDeleteThousands of people have already loss their work because of baning okada and government forget that no work to due that why people riding okada must of all dis people have a wife and children government are creating more porverty of this country which is very bad
ReplyDeleteHow can you ban bike when roads are still a mess? How are folks supposed to navigate terrible traffic conditions? Also, why should the ban affect keke at all, you hardly hear of keke accidents. Badagry road that is an eyesore they're banning bike.
ReplyDeleteWicked and unreasonable men!
Whaoooo bravo my governor, you stop them now just to suffer and when is almost time to vote again u will tell dem to work again abi but remember dat you government are bringing more Armed Robbers to d state when No food for dis people to feed dere family......No Good Adviser For You Sanwo Nor
ReplyDeleteMr governor, it's actually a good idea when we look at the rate at which most of the riders behaves and drives. But Otrike is not the solution. Bike can be restricted but Nappe should be out of this. Provide a good road.
ReplyDeleteThis current administration have nothing to offer lagosians, it is the right time for us to stand up again impunity. This administration lack ideas and we have to critically evaluate what has been done so far by this present government in Lagos state. it is so unfortunate that most of us the followership don't know exactly what we wanted. I plead to lagosians to take things easy for now and plan a change of party or personality come 2023.
ReplyDeleteI only pray for the best for we lagoscian
ReplyDeleteThe Okada ban was long overdue. However, as it's customary with government officials who are often far from the people, there was no planning. Have you repaired Lagos roads? Nope! The rains will soon come, and as usual chaos is anticipated. This is one reason why including Keke napep (tricycle) in the ban doesn't fly with me. Unban keke napep immediately! And as for Okada riders, they can adequately take care of commuters from the major roads to the hinterlands throught the state. Finally, the government also failed to consider security of its citizens. Whether you wanna agree or not, expect a rise in armed robbery...where are the Policemen and Women to handle the situation?
ReplyDeleteThere is need for more brt buses and the Okada riders should be informed wen dey will stop operating..it is uncaled for
ReplyDeleteIt not fair cos how do government want them to survive this is the only means that put food on their tables so banning of tricycle n motorcycle isn't a good idea ,mostly especially d tricycle .
ReplyDeleteOur government has never done the right thing for ones they only know how to cause chaos and starve people cos they have the power and authority .May Almighty God judge u all of after the other. Amen
Everyone problem has a solution. This is already making me think about the next big business idea in the transportation industry. All things work for good.
ReplyDeleteAgree if it is okada but Keke why? No job anywhere for people to survive, did you want peoples to die in hunger,God dey oo , please consider this people.
