BREAKING: LASEMA releases details of man who jumped into Lagos lagoon

- The details of a young man who jumped into the Lagos lagoon on Saturday, February 15, have been disclosed

- The man's name is Daibo Davis, he is 22 years old and lives at 17, Sosanya St., Gbagada Soluyi, Lagos

- Davis allegedly told the driver he had a stomach upset and asked him to stop before he made the suicidal jump

Lagos state, Nigeria's commercial nerve centre, witnessed another tragic incident on Saturday, February 15, when a young man jumped into the Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.

Though there were widespread reactions on social media, the identity of the man was unknown as the only available information was that he was a passenger of a ride-hailing service in the state.

However, as the operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) commenced the search for the young man, his full identities have been unveiled.

According to LASEMA, the young man's name is Daibo Davis and he is 22 years old; born on 22nd July 1998

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that LASEMA's DG, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, made the disclosure.

Legit.ng gathers that was on his way from a hospital via a taxi when he stopped and jumped into the lagoon.

The information was gotten from the driver of the taxi conveying Davis before he jumped into the Lagoon.

According to the driver, Davis lives at 17, Sosanya St., Gbagada Soluyi, Lagos.

He allegedly told the driver he had a stomach upset and asked him to stop before he made the suicidal jump.

The search by LASEMA operatives is still ongoing as Davis is yet to be found as at the time of filing this report.

The cases of people committing suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon worry many residents of the state and Nigerians generally.

In 2019, operatives of the LASEMA averted a tragedy on Tuesday, October 15 when they rescued a middle-aged man, Desmond Abraham, who wanted to kill himself by jumping into Lagos Lagoon.

Abraham, 44, who was rescued alive by the LASWA units, blamed economic frustration and family issues for his suicidal attempt.
